India observes the Armed Forces Flag Day today,requesting people to contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund as a tribute to the martyrs of the country.
The fund is used for the welfare of the families of the martyrs and disabled soldiers.

Every year, it is observed to honour martyrs, men and women in uniform, who safeguard the country’s honour.

Small flags are distributed on this day in return for donations.

UGC Observes Armed Forces Flag Day
The University Grants Commission (UGC) ordered varsities across the country to observe 7 December as the Armed Forces Flag Day this year.
In a letter, the commission directed the institutions and universities to acknowledge the “supreme sacrifices made by our valiant Armed Forces personnel for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country and securing our lives against the threats of insurgency and terrorism” and against natural calamities.

Armed Forces Week 2018
India observed the Armed Forces Week from 1 December till today to mark the celebration of 70th Armed Forces Flag Day.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had appealed to the countrymen to join in the Armed Forces Week, in wearing Armed Forces flag to pay respects to the brave sons and daughters of our nation.
The objective is to encourage citizens to make financial contributions to the families of war heroes and promote welfare activities.
