Virat Kohli is ahead of tennis ace Rafael Nadal in the ESPN list.

The latest ESPN World Fame 100 list is out and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli is the only Indian athlete in the top 10 club.

With 25 as his search score and 37.1 million social media following, the Indian skipper stands at the seventh position.

His annual endorsements are worth $29 million.

Last year, Virat Kohli was at the 11th position.

The list has been topped by Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by former Basketball player Lebron James and FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.

Indian Athletes In ESPN World Fame 100

Nine Indian athletes secured their position among 100 most famous sportspersons in the world.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Former Indian Cricket team captain, MS Dhoni stands at 13th position with 5 search score, annual endorsements worth $28 million and 20.5 million social media following.

Yuvraj Singh

Left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh is placed at the 18th spot with one search score, annual endorsements worth $31 million and 14.5 million followers on social media platforms.

Suresh Raina

At number 22 is cricketer Suresh Raina with 15.3 million followers on social media. His endorsements are valued at $20 million in a year.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin is among the top 50 famous sportspersons in the world with 42nd position. With 9.2 million social media following, the player’s annual endorsements are worth $17 million.

Rohit Sharma

Four ranks lower than Ravichandran Ashwin, stands cricketer Rohit Sharma.

His search score is 6 while 12.8 people follow him on the social media platforms.

The annual endorsements of Rohit Sharma are valued at $8.6 million.

Harbhajan Singh

With 9.1 million followers and $6.98 million endorsements in a year, cricketer Harbhajan Singh is positioned at 74.

Sania Mirza

Ace tennis player Sania Mirza is the only Indian woman athlete in the list.

Out of the nine Indian athletes, she is the only one to play tennis. All others belong to the cricketing fraternity.

She has been placed at 93rd position with 2 search score, annual endorsements worth $2.13 million and 12.4 social following.

Shikhar Dhawan

Sania Mirza is followed by the cricketer Shikhar Dhawan in the list with 8.8 million followers on the social media.

His annual endorsements are worth $7.57 million.

Women Achievers

Three women sportspersons, including Mirza, have found a place in the ESPN list.

American Tennis Player Serena Williams stands at position 17 while Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova is at 37th position.

United States With Maximum Players

As many as 29 players in the list come from the United States. Three American sportspersons found a places in the top 10 club.

United States is followed by India with nine athletes in the list while seven sports stars in the ESPN list belong to Spain.

Five famous sports players are from Brazil.

England, Germany, Argentina and France have four athletes each in the list.

Soccer Scores The Most

In the list, 37 players belong to the soccer fraternity followed by basketball and cricket with 15 and 11 players, respectively.

There are eight players from tennis and American football fraternity while six sportspersons in the list are boxers.

Other sports listed in the ranking are swimming, snowboarding, baseball, esports, MMA, Formula one and skating.

ESPN World Fame 100 List

The ESPN World Fame 100 lists the most famous stars in world sport.

This is the fourth year running for Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo to take the crown as the world’s most famous sporting icon.

The rankings of the top three players, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James and Lionel Mess, have not changed from the previous year’s rankings.

The rundown of active sports players is judged by three parameters-

  • Google Trend score
  • Annual endorsements
  • Social media following
