Happy birthday Virat Kohli! The captain of Team India whois synonymous with passion and cricket turns 30 today.
He was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi to a lawyer, Prem Kohli, and Saroj Kohli. After completing his schooling from Vishal Bharati Public School, Virat Kohli took coaching in cricket from Rajkumar Sharma, his first mentor.
A Prolific Run In International Cricket
After playing for domestic teams, Virat Kohli made his international ODI debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. The same year, he captained the Indian Under-19 team in the World Cup in Malaysia and led the team to a title win.
Later in 2010 and 2011, he made his T20 and Test debut against Zimbabwe and West Indies, respectively.
He was a member of the Indian team that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. ICC announced him as the No 1 batsman in 2013. A year later, he was chosen as the Indian Test team captain.
This year, Kohli has found ‘Virat’ success in all the three formats of the game.

Recently, Virat Kohli reached yet another remarkable landmark, by scoring the fastest 10,000 ODI runs, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s 17-year-old record in the process!
The Indian captain also scored his 24th Test century to become the fastest Indian to do so in 123 innings. His feat eclipsed the existing record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who reached this mark in his 125th innings. Kohli is second only to Don Bradman when it comes to the number of innings taken to score 24 Test hundreds.
In February, he became only the second player since South Africa’s AB de Villiers to have over 900 points in ODIs and Tests simultaneously. He is only the fifth batsman to have breached 900 points in both formats concurrently. Kohli’s 909 points for batting is the seventh highest rating of all time.
The year started with Virat Kohli equaling the legendary Don Bradman’s record of the maximum number of 150-plus scores in Test cricket as a captain after he scored 153 against South Africa.

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award on Kohli in 2018. He is the third Indian cricketer to win the national sports award after Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Indian captain Virat Kohli made it to the Forbes 2018 list of the world’s highest paid athletes. The only Indian in this top 100, Kohli ranked at no. 83 is also the lone cricketer to figure in the list headed by professional boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Earlier this year, he was named as the Uber brand ambassador for India.
ICC Awards 2017
Virat Kohli won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the Year and being named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year. He was also named captain of the ICC Team of the Year for both Tests as well as One Day Internationals (ODIs).
The Fairytale Wedding
Virat Kohli married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in December, last year in Italy. Two grand receptions were held in the country’s capital, Delhi and Mumbai, which was attended by renowned cricketers, Bollywood celebrities and politicians like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Since then, the couple has been setting up family goals.
